Horses from abroad

This is an illustrated record of horses brought to Japan from overseas in the Edo period. It notes characteristics such as body length and age, as well as places of origin, including Harushiya (Persia) and Java. The material is also featured in the digital exhibition "Japan-Netherlands Exchange in the Edo Period."
