Gekko zuihitsu (Gekko's miscellany)

A series of woodblock prints by OGATA Gekko, a Nihonga artist of the Meiji period. As the title "Zuihitsu" (miscellany or essays) suggests, the series features a wide range of themes, including samurai of the Sengoku period, Chinese anecdotes, folklore, and mythical creatures such as oni (demons) and dragons, blending historical fact with fiction.
