Description

Statesman, educator. He entered the Aichi English School in 1874, the Tokyo English School in 1875 and the Department of Japanese and Chinese Literature in the Faculty of Literature of the University of Tokyo in 1880. He jointly established the nationalist organization Seikyosha and published the magazine Nihonjin (The Japanese) (later, Nihon oyobi Nihonjin (Japan and the Japanese)). In 1889 he founded the Ikubun-kan and in 1903 he became involved in education at the Tokyo Women’s Normal School. A member of the House of Representatives, vice-chairman of the Tokyo City Assembly.
