Exploring Japanese Landmarks in Nishiki-e and Photographs

Tenjin Bridge

This bridge spans the Okawa River, connecting the Uemachi Plateau in Osaka City with the northern part of Osaka. The bridge is said to have been built in 1594 and is known as one of the Naniwa San Ohashi (Naniwa Three Big Bridges). It was replaced by an iron bridge in 1888 due to the Yodo River flood of 1885. It is also known for the Tenjin Festival held at Osaka Tenmangu Shrine.
