Hikone Castle

A castle located in Hikone, Shiga Prefecture. It was built in 1622. This castle was the residence of the Ii family, the lords of the Hikone domain, during the Edo period. Many buildings in the castle still exist. The castle tower is designated as a National Treasure, and the Tenbin Yagura, Taiko-mon Gate, and stable are designated as Important Cultural Properties.
