December 7 and 22, 2022

The 12th Mutual Visit Program between the National Diet Library, the National Assembly Library (NAL), and the National Assembly Research Service (NARS) of Korea was held online. (For more information, see Exchange Activities with Foreign Libraries.)

November 30, 2022

An Online Exchange Program was held between the National Diet Library and the National Library of China (NLC). The program began with a Directors’ meeting, which was followed by presentations on the Development and Construction of Smart Libraries. November 21-22, 2022

The 3rd Memory of the World Global Policy Forum on Enhancing International Cooperation to Better Safeguard Documentary Heritage at Risk was held in Tokyo, Japan, and online. NDL Director General YOSHINAGA Motonobu and four other employees attended the conference onsite.

Ms. Barbara Lison, president of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), visited the NDL. For information on the IFLA, see Links: International library organizations related with the National Diet Library.

October 25, 2022

The 28th meeting of the Conference of Directors of National Libraries in Asia and Oceania (CDNLAO) was held in Jakarta, Indonesia and online. The subject of this year's conference was "Library Service Impacts on Community: Sustainability, Inclusion, and Innovation." NDL Director General YOSHINAGA Motonobu and Deputy Director General KATAYAMA Nobuko participated in the conference online.(For information on the CDNLAO, see Links (International library organizations related with the National Diet Library).)

Dra. Silvia Elena GIORGULI SAUCEDO, President of El Colegio de Mexico, visited the NDL.

October 3-14, 2022

The International Conference on Dublin Core and Metadata Applications (DCMI 2022) was held online. Mr. MACHIYA Daichi (Digital Information Distribution Division, Digital Information Department) and Ms. TAKAHASHI Michiko (Digital Information Distribution Division, Digital Information Department) attended the conference and made a presentation entitled "Improvement of metadata interoperability for promoting distribution and utilization of Japanese digital cultural resources" (Presentation file: [PDF:1.32MB]) .

September 21, 2022

An Online Exchange Program between the National Diet Library and the National Library of Korea (NLK) was held. First, keynote speeches were given by each library, followed by presentations on "Curation and information dissemination by national libraries." September 14-17, 2022

The 32nd Conference of the European Association of Japanese Resource Specialists (EAJRS) was held in Lisbon, Portugal and online. Mr. OKUMURA Makito (Assistant Director, Digital Information Planning Division, Digital Information Department) and two other employees attended the conference online. Mr. Okumura made a presentation entitled "Promotion and Use of Digital Resources through Japan Search" (Presentation file: [PDF: 3.03MB]). The 18th International Conference on Digital Preservation (iPRES 2022) was held in Glasgow, UK and online. Mr. KINOSHITA Takafumi (Research and Development for Next-Generation Systems Office, Digital Information Planning Division, Digital Information Department) and Mr. HONDA Tatsuki (Digital Library Division, Kansai-kan) attended the conference online.

H.E. Mr. Mirzosharif JALOLOV Asomuddinovich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Japan, visited the NDL and donated books on Tajikistan.

DIGITAL HUMANITIES 2022 was held online. Ms. TOKUHARA Naoko (Senior Librarian, Digital Information Department) and Mr. ONUMA Tahee (Assistant Director, Digital Information Planning Division, Digital Information Department) attended the conference.

H.E. Mr. Ricardo G. ROJAS, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Chile to Japan, visited the NDL and donated books on Chile.

The annual meeting of the Association for Asian Studies (AAS) was held in Honolulu, USA and online. Mr. HIROSE Junya (Branch Libraries and Cooperation Division, Administrative Department) and 4 other NDL employees attended the conference online.

A webinar was held on the topic “Libraries and UN SDGs: IFLA supporting the libraries to achieve the SDGs,” during which Ms. Barbara Lison, president of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), spoke to more than 200 online participants.
