Wakan hyaku monogatari (One hundred ghost stories of China and Japan)

Wakan hyaku monogatari is a print series by TSUKIOKA Yoshitoshi (1839–1892), an ukiyo-e artist active in the late Edo and Meiji periods, depicting eerie tales and supernatural episodes from Japan and China. It was published in 1865 (Keio 1), when Yoshitoshi was twenty-seven. Around twenty years later, he returned to the subject of yokai in another series, Shinkei sanjuurokkaisen (New forms of thirty-six ghosts).
