Description

Known as the “Father of Brazilian immigration”. In 1908, he led the first group of emigrants to Brazil on the Kasatomaru together with MIZUNO Ryo. He went to Brazil again in 1917 and established the First Uetsuka Colony in Promissão, in the interior of Sao Paulo. Dedicated his life to the Japanese people in Brazil, and in 1933, he was commended as a meritorious person at the 25th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Brazil.
