The 11th head of the Konoike family. He took over as the head of the Konoike family in 1884 and served as the first president of the Nippon Life Insurance Company. He also became president of the 13th National Bank. In 1897 he founded Konoike Bank (later, Sanwa Bank) and was given the title of danshaku (baron) in 1911. In 1921 he founded the Konoike Company.
