Born into a samurai family in Kagoshima. Married Nogi Maresuke in 1878. She lost her first son Katsusuke and her second son Yasusuke to the Russo-Japanese war. She and her husband Maresuke killed themselves to follow the Meiji Emperor’s passing on the 13th of September in 1912. She was frugal as expected of a military officer’s wife.
