Description

A niece of Fujita Toko, a philosopher in the Bakumatsu era. She started to work at the kindergarten affiliated with the Tokyo Women's Normal School (later Ochanomizu University) in 1876 and became the first kindergarten teacher in Japan. In 1887 she went to Europe to conduct research on women’s education and after her return, she taught at Mito Women’s High School and others.
