(Required) Terms of Use of the Data Transmission Service for Persons with Print Disabilities

You (the User) agree to the following terms of use as a registered user of the Data Transmission Service for Persons with Print Disabilities (the Service).

  1. The user warrants that the information included in the user's submitted application and the documents attached thereto are true and accurate.
  2. The user shall keep safe, with due care of a prudent manager, the registration certificate provided by the National Diet Library which indicates identification number and other information and the password provided by the National Diet Library. The user shall not disclose their identification number or password without due cause.
  3. When the user lost or damaged their registration certificate set forth in Paragraph 2, or when the identification number or the password is, or is likely to be, divulged to a third party, the user shall immediately notify the National Diet Library thereof.
  4. When there is any change in the matters stated in the application, when the user desires to change the password set forth in Paragraph 2, or when the user desires to terminate the registration as a user of the Service, the user shall immediately report thereof or apply therefor to the National Diet Library.
  5. At the time of report or application set forth in Paragraph 4 or application for renewal of registration term, the user shall submit documents to verify their name, address, age, and proof of being blind, visually impaired, or otherwise print disabled, upon the request of the National Diet Library.
  6. The National Diet Library may suspend all or a part of data transmission to the user through the Service if it is exceptionally necessary to do so for operational reasons.
  7. If the user has breached any of Paragraph 1 through Paragraph 5, has not complied with the instruction of any staff of the National Diet Library, or has conducted any act that is likely to interfere with the services of the National Diet Library, the National Diet Library may revoke the user's registration or may suspend all or a part of data transmission to the user
  8. The National Diet Library shall revoke the user's registration if the user is no longer blind, visually impaired, or otherwise print disabled.
  9. The National Diet Library may change the contents and manner of the Service without prior notice.
  10. The user agrees that the National Diet Library obtains the information included in the user's submitted application and the document attached thereto for the Service and keeps them in strict confidence.
  11. The user warrants that the use of the Service by the user is lawful in the country where the user uses the Service, and guarantees that the National Diet Library shall not be liable therefor.
  12. The National Diet Library may claim damages against the user for any injury arising from breach of any obligation, warranty or guarantee provided for herein.
  13. The National Diet Library is not liable for any injury of the user or third parties arising from the use of the Service. Furthermore, the National Diet Library is not liable for any injury of the user or third parties arising from any change, delay, interruption or suspension of the Service.
  14. Any disputes arising herefrom or from the Service shall be governed by the laws of Japan. The governing language hereof shall be Japanese. Any English translation hereof shall be just for reference. The Japanese text shall prevail over any discrepancy in interpretation between the Japanese text and English text.
  15. The Tokyo District Court shall have the exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising herefrom and from the Service.
