Interfacility Requests (Browse Kansai-kan materials at the Tokyo Main Library)

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, admission to the Tokyo Main Library will be limited to a maximum of 1000 visitors per day, and there will be some temporary changes to interfacility requests for browsing, as described below.

  1. The browsing period will be one day only, limited to the same day you first browse the borrowed materials, rather than three consecutive business days, as is normally the case.
  2. New interfacility requests will not be accepted on the same day you browse the borrowed materials.

Interfacility request is available when you need to browse materials which are only held in the Kansai-kan at the Tokyo Main Library. Please be aware that materials held in the International Library of Children's Literature are not available at the Tokyo Main Library.

Before Making a Request

Have you already registered as user?

Interfacility request is available only to Registered Users and Online Users. Online Users have to register before browsing the requested materials (If you bring identification documents, the registration will be completed on the spot).

For more details, please refer to "User Registration."

Do you know about other services?

Certain types of materials are available without making an interfacility request.

  • If you already know the specific part of a material (i.e., the title of the article and the exact page numbers) you would like to copy, you can request remote photoduplication service via NDL Online and receive photocopies by courier or postal mail without visiting the library.
  • Some foreign periodicals are available on e-Journal/e-Book.
  • You can browse digitized materials on the National Diet Library Digital Collections.
