The basics of children's literature: A general history of foreign children's literature: Focusing on English children's literature
Introduction
Many works of children's literature from around the world have been translated into Japanese and are well known in Japan. This video provides an overview of the best known of these works and the development of fantasy, realism, adventure, and other genres. We will look at regional differences as well as the historical and cultural trends in discussing some famous works of children's literature and their reception in Japan.
