Tenryu River

A Class A river that flows south through Nagano, Aichi, and Shizuoka. It originates in Lake Suwa in Nagano Prefecture and drains into the Enshu Nada Sea in the Pacific Ocean. Tenryukyo Gorge, a National Place of Scenic Beauty, is located in the middle of the river. Tenryu River boat tours developed from the transportation of goods that had continued since the Edo period, and boat tours specializing in sightseeing started in 1917.
