Exploring Japanese Landmarks in Nishiki-e and Photographs

Onmaya-gashi

The name of a riverbank. The name derives from the fact that a Shogunate government horse stable was located here. The "Onmaya no Wastashi" ferry was established in 1690. Located around the entrance to Senso-ji Temple, a large number of visitors came by boat from Honjo. In 1874, the Umayabashi-bridge was constructed slightly downstream and the ferry was discontinued.
