Nachi Falls

A waterfall located on Mt. Nachi in Nachi-Katsuura Town, Wakayama Prefecture. Of the 48 waterfalls over the Nachi River, it especially refers to the first waterfall (the Nachi Great Fall). Waterfalls in the Mt. Nachi area have been considered sacred since ancient times and waterfall practices have been performed for mountain asceticism. It is registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site as "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range".
