Yamashita-cho
The area of the present-day Taimei Elementary School. Refers to the exterior of the Yamashita-mon Gate which was located between Uchisaiwai-cho 1 chome and Yurakucho 1 chome (Under the railway truck heading from the Imperial Hotel towards Ginza). The Yamashita-mon Gate was long ago called “the Hime-gomon Gate” and also the Nabeshima-mon Gate because it was close to the Nabeshima residence of the Saga Clan.
