As of May 31, 2023, the National Diet Library has added roughly 20,000 items to the National Diet Library Digital Collections, as detailed below.

These materials are primarily available for viewing only at the National Diet Library. Materials in the Rare Books and Old Materials collection, a limited number of books that have been confirmed to be either in the public domain or otherwise freely accessible on the Internet, and out-of-print or otherwise difficult-to-obtain periodicals that have been added to the Special Digital Collections are also available via the Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Libraries and for Individuals.

Starting in January 2024, a significant number of additional out-of-print or otherwise difficult-to-obtain materials will be made available via the Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Libraries and for Individuals.
