1-10 Imperial Rescript on the Signing of the Instrument of Surrender, September 2, 1945

 The "Instrument of Surrender" was signed on September 2, 1945, on the deck of the US battleship Missouri, by Japan, represented by Foreign Minister Mamoru Shigemitsu, and Yoshijiro Umezu, Chief of the General Staff, and the Allied Powers, represented by Douglas MacArthur, the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers, finalizing the surrender of Japan. This document, dated September 2, 1945, is the actual rescript issued ordering the signing and execution of the "Instrument of Surrender."
