Diplomat. Born in Yamaguchi. In 1895, he graduated from the Imperial University and entered the Foreign Ministry. In 1897, he worked at the legation in Germany. Thereafter, he successively served as secretary at the legations in Belgium, Korea and the United States. In 1906, after the Russo-Japanese War, he became the consul-general in Mukden (present Shenyang). Later, he served as director of the commerce department in the Foreign Ministry. His death at the age of 44 cut short a distinguished career.
