2015-1-6 On February 19 (Thu), International Policy Seminar "Parliamentary control over governmental activities -- parliamentary reservation (Parlamentsvorbehalt) in Germany" will be held.

The National Diet Library will hold an international policy seminar "Parliamentary control over governmental activities -- parliamentary reservation (Parlamentsvorbehalt) in Germany" on February 19 (Thu).

Prof. Dr. Christian Waldhoff, professor of Humboldt University of Berlin and a leading German scholar on public law will be our keynote speaker. He will talk about the concept of "parliamentary reservation" (Parlamentsvorbehalt), in which parliamentary approvals are individually required when the government decides upon certain essential political issues; and its effects on parliamentary practices in Germany.
A panel discussion with prominent Japanese experts in public law will follow.
