2024-3-26 The ILCL Will Hold an Event: Enjoying Books on Science—About Karikó Katalin, Nobel Prize Winner from Hungary on April 27, 2024.

The International Library of Children's Literature (ILCL) has announced an event to be held at the ILCL on Saturday, April 27, 2024, in celebration of Children's Reading Day. In cooperation with the Embassy of Hungary in Japan, the event is titled Enjoying Books on Science—About Karikó Katalin, Nobel Prize Winner from Hungary.

Karikó Katalin, a native of Hungary, was awarded the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, together with her collaborator Drew Weissman, for their significant contributions to the development of mRNA vaccines. At this event, Yuria Masuda, a journalist and friend of Karikó Katalin, will talk about Karikó's way of life and its appeal, and Kaoru Takeuchi, a science writer who was involved in the translation of a children's book introducing Karikó Katalin, will talk about his experience translating the book.
In addition to the lecture, there will be a quiz on Hungary and an introduction of Karikó Katalin's achievements and related children's books.
