2020-8-25 The Launch of Japan Search

Japan Search is a national platform for aggregating the metadata of digital resources from various fields and providing an integrated search service, as well as an API, to promote the use of content. As of August 25, Japan Search collects over 21 million metadata.

Since 2017, the National Diet Library has been closely working with a number of organizations to develop Japan Search under policies established by the Working Group Steering Committee of the Digital Archives Japan Promotion Committee. After the beta version was released in February 2019, we continued to improve functions and expand cooperation, and on August 25, 2020, the official version has become available.

Japan Search enables you not only to search items, but also to create an annotated list of your favorite items by using the My Note function. For example, you can share your favorite collections on your own website by embedding these lists as web parts. Please try to find a wide variety of content and unique functionalities with Japan Search.

To celebrate the official release of Japan Search, the Cabinet Office and the NDL are sponsoring an online forum on September 10. We hope you will join a discussion on the significance of Japan Search and digital archiving in the aftermath of a pandemic.
