Webinar "Libraries in the New Normal"

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about tremendous changes to our daily lives, and libraries everywhere now face the challenge of maintaining and improving their services while ensuring the safety of patrons and staff. The National Diet Library will host a web lecture featuring Ms. Christine Mackenzie, president of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA*), who will talk about measures taken by the IFLA and libraries around the world in response to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as potential future international cooperation. We hope that her presentation will help deepen understanding of how libraries must operate in this "new normal" as well as prove useful in the planning of library activities. We look forward to your participation.

Ms. Christine Mackenzie, president of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA)

IFLA President (2019–2021), Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) Fellowship, former member of the International Network of Emerging Library Innovators (INELI) Oceania executive committee.
Ms. Mackenzie has held a number of senior posts, including manager of the Brisbane City Council Library Services, which is the largest public library system in Australia; chief executive officer of Yarra Plenty Regional Library (2004–2016); and executive officer of the Public Library Victoria Network (2016–2017). She has also been actively involved in the IFLA as chair of the Metropolitan Libraries Section (2009–2011) and treasurer of the Governing Board (2015–2017).
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts at Monash University, she obtained a Graduate Diploma in Librarianship as well as a Graduate Diploma in Management from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
