The conference will address the following sub-themes:

  1. Strategic Collaborations and Joint Initiatives
  2. Cultural Heritage and Identity in the Digital Age
  3. Capacity Building and Knowledge Exchange
  4. Emerging Technologies and Innovations

The 31st Conference of Directors of National Libraries in Asia and Oceania, hosted by the State of Kuwait and organized by the Kuwait National Library , was held virtually on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 9:00 AM Kuwait time. The conference, themed "Shared Knowledge for a Shared Future: National Libraries in Partnership," was attended by 38 participants from 16 countries. Presentations were given by IFLA President Leslie Weir and IFLA Secretary General Sharon Memis.

The meeting began with a welcoming address by Siham Al-Azmi, Director General of the National Library of Kuwait. The minutes of the previous conference, the 30th session, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, were then approved. The member states then began presenting their experiences and expertise on the meeting's four sub-themes:

  1. Strategic Collaborations and Joint Initiatives
  2. Cultural Heritage and Identity in the Digital Age
  3. Capacity Building and Knowledge Exchange
  4. Emerging Technologies and Innovations
Nine countries participated, delivering nine presentations: Lebanon, China, Qatar, Iran, Thailand, Malaysia, the UAE, Korea, and Japan.

The conference concluded, and the Islamic Republic of Iran offered to host the next session.
The meeting ended at 12:25 PM Kuwait time.
