Mr. Xiong Yuanming, newly-appointed Director of the National Library of China

In July 2021, Mr. Xiong Yuanming was appointed Director of the National Library of China, as the successor of Mr. Rao Quan.

Mr. Xiong Yuanming graduated from Minzu University of China, where he majored in minority languages and literature, and received a MA degree. In March 2006, he took the position of the deputy director of the General Office of the Ministry of Culture. In May 2014, he started to serve as the director of the Bureau for Retired Personnel of the Ministry of Culture. He acted as the director of the General Office of the Ministry of Culture in July 2017 and then, in August 2018, as the director of the General Office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In 2021, he was appointed as the Director of the National Library of China, and concurrently Director of China National Center for Preservation & Conservation of Ancient Books, and Director of the National Museum of Classic Books.
