Yonten Dargye, Director, National Library and Archives of Bhutan

Yonten Dargye, after completion of his Ph.D. in Buddhist Studies, joined the National Library of Bhutan in 1997 as a researcher, and rose to hold the post of Chief Research Officer, Research & Media Division of the Department of Culture, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs. He is a researcher by profession and his main research interests focus on Bhutanese religion and history. He has translated and authored a few number of books on Bhutanese history and religion. He has executed and monitored the project at the working level through coordination and supervision of the team's efforts, which is culminated in the publication of the book Intangible Cultural Heritage of Bhutan. Besides, he has contributed research papers on history and culture both in national and international seminars and conferences.

In addition to contributing new scholarship, he served as a board/committee member of some of the government agencies. He took over as the Director of the National Library and Archives of Bhutan in June 2018. He looks forward to building the National Library and Archives of Bhutan as the information hub of Bhutan.
