Businessman. Born in Nihonmatsu, Fukushima. In 1870, he entered Onogumi silk traders in Yokohama. In 1873, he established a silk-reeling company named Nihonmatsu Seishi with Onogumi and colleagues from his native place. In 1885, after Onogumi was disbanded, he ran his own store and contributed to the export of Japanese raw silk. He successively held important posts including executive of the Habutae (silk fabric) Cooperative, member of Yokohama City Assembly, and member of Yokohama Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
