Description

Epidemiologist. Born in Tochigi. In 1898, he graduated from the Medical College of the Imperial University of Tokyo and became a research assistant at the Institute of Infectious Diseases, engaging in research under Dr. Shibasaburo Kitasato. Later, he was appointed to such posts as provisional quarantine officer at the Ministry of Home Affairs, and engineer at the Metropolitan Police Department, and in 1907 he received a doctorate in medicine. On March 6, 1913, he died from an illness caught during of his research at the Institute of Infectious Diseases.
