This work, based on the encyclopedia that was published in England, was translated, revised and enlarged to a total of 10 volumes by E. Buys (d.1769). The National Diet Library only houses Volumes 1 and 2 (A to C). This was widely used by Dutch studies scholars, was referenced by Otsuki Gentaku and Yamamura Saisuke, and also used as a reference work for physics studies by Baba Sajuro, Hashimoto Munekichi and others.
