Features and collections The Newspaper Reading Room holds Japanese titles and major foreign titles. Japanese titles include national papers, regional papers, trade papers, and sports papers. These newspapers may be kept as bound volumes, reduced editions, photo-reproduced editions, or as microfilm reels or microfiches.
Reference books on newspapers are provided in the reference corner in the room.

Announcement
  1. Before approaching the National Diet Library, you are encouraged to contact your local library first. In many cases, these libraries have what you want.
  2. Materials on open shelves may be viewed freely. Please make a request on NDL Online terminal for the materials in closed stacks. If you need the materials unable to request via NDL Online, please fill out a call-slip and submit it at the counter.
  3. Materials already microfilmed are available only in microform, to preserve the originals.
  4. Materials are to be used only in the room.
Photoduplication Depends on the form of the material. Please ask the staff.
