The Special Purpose Reading Room (Books) is for using loose-leaf materials, still images, microfilms, damaged materials and materials that can be easily scattered.

Collections including architectural plans by the Okada Brothers, Noboru Hara Collection, Ryohei Hotta Collection and Toshio Watanabe Collection. Books in Chinese and Korean languages acquired in and before 1986 are also available in this room. For materials in Chinese and Korean languages, check the card catalog beside the General Information Desk in the Main Building for the title and call number and make a request at the counter in the room.

Microform reading desks and reading desks for visitors with their own computers are available.

Catalogs are available on open shelves for microfilms and other collections (not for all materials).
Please check for the call number, title and reel number of microfilms and make a request at the counter.

  1. No special registration is required to use the room (except for certain special materials).
  2. Reference service is available at the counter.
  3. Materials are to be used only in the room, except when brought out to be photocopied.
