Collections of the Kansai-kan

Collection development of the Kansai-kan is different from that of the Tokyo Main Library which collects publications inclusively in Japan according to the legal deposit system. The Kansai-kan, which is designed to serve as a research library, has open shelves of reference books and government publications in the General Collections Room. It also has domestic books and periodicals in high demand, foreign periodicals, science and technology related materials, etc. in the stacks that are intended to be provided via remote service (document delivery service, inter-library loan) as well as reading on-site. Also, a wide variety of Asia-related materials can be found in the Asian Resources Room.

*The Kansai-kan does not hold the following materials:Rare books and old materials, foreign government documents, statutes and parliamentary documents, back numbers of telephone directories, residential maps, single-sheet maps (topographical maps, town maps), books for children, musical scores, materials in Braille, etc.
