The 18th Mutual Visit Program between the National Diet Library and the National Library of Korea

The 18th mutual visit program of the National Diet Library (NDL) and the National Library of Korea (NLK) was held in Seoul from September 7 to 13, 2015. Headed by Mr. Tadahiko MOTOYOSHI, Deputy Director General of the Reader Services and Collections Department, the delegation consisted of the following other members: Mr. Terumasa OISO, Assistant Director of the Digital Library Division, Kansai-kan of the NDL; and Ms. Yoko SHIBATA, Acquisitions Administration and Bibliographic Control Division, Acquisitions and Bibliography Department.

  • Current status and future of making and providing bibliographic data at NDL―Activities based on "New Developments for Creating and Providing NDL's Bibliographic Data 2013"
    Ms. Yoko Shibata (Librarian, Acquisitions Administration and Bibliographic Control Division, Acquisitions and Bibliography Department, NDL)
  • Latest trends of making and providing bibliographic data: Focusing on processing online materials

In the Opening Session, keynote speeches were given by representatives of both libraries. Mr. Motoyoshi reported the outline, current status and challenges of each activity set to be focused on according to six objectives of the Mission and Objectives 2012-2016. Ms. Lee introduced major activities of 2014 to enhance the functions and roles of the NLK and the current prioritized works. In Sessions 1 and 2, experts from both libraries reported on their recent activities and achievements.


Session

After these sessions, the delegation visited the National Library for Children and Young Adults of NLK; National Library of Korea, Sejong; Yonsei University Library, as well as Seoul Metropolitan Library and other related institutions.
