Digital Exhibition “Portraits of Modern Japanese Historical Figures” presents portrait photographs of figures who had influence on the foundation of modern Japan.

On January 30, another 252 persons’ photographs were added: Shigeru Yoshida, Fusae Ichikawa, Ichizo Kobayashi and other statesman, bureaucrats and businessmen. Now about 600 persons’ photographs can be viewed in total. New search categories “Birthplace” and “Date of birth” are also available as well as existing “Occupation, Status” and “Alphabetical Order”.

In the Japanese version, their literary works and related sound recordings provided on our website National Diet Library Digitized Contents are directly linked to their images or sounds. In addition materials housed in the Library are linked to the list of collection items of the NDL Search.
