The 31st Mutual Visit Program
between the National Diet Library and the National Library of China

The 31st mutual visit program of the National Diet Library (NDL) and the National Library of China (NLC) was held in Beijing from November 20 to 27, 2012. Headed by Mr. Yukio Ikemoto, Deputy Librarian, the NDL delegation consisted of the following other four members: Mr. Osamu Yamazaki, Deputy Director General, Kansai-kan of the NDL; Ms. Nanae Otsuka, Senior Librarian, Acquisitions and Bibliography Department; Mr. Tsukasa Kimezawa, Director, Digital Library Division, Kansai-kan; and Mr. Motoo Yuno, Asian Resources Division, Kansai-kan (interpreter).

The highlight activities of the program are shown in the table below. Detailed presentations were made in each session, followed by active Q&A exchanges.

To learn more about how they digitize or preserve classical books in China, the delegation visited many other institutions in the latter part of the program: the Peking University Library; the National Science Library, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (NSLC); the Capital Library; the Zhejiang Library; the CADAL (China Academic Digital Associate Library) Project Management Center at Zhejiang University; the Shanghai Library; the Fudan University Library, etc.
