Official gazette, old movable-type printing collection etc. available on the Internet: total number of digitized contents tops two million!
Some 21,000 official gazettes from the first issue, July 2, 1883, to April 20, 1952, about 2,000 official gazettes written in English from April 4, 1946, to April 28, 1952, nearly 18,000 rare books and old materials including almost all 250 movable-type prints in the collection were put on the Internet on April 9. On May 15, 2012, 15,000 doctoral dissertations became available on the Internet.
In addition, in July, about 80,000 digitized natural science periodicals and 17,000 digitized books of the prewar era were newly provided on the premises of the NDL.
On August 13, copyright cleared items, that is, 427 rare books and old materials, 24 doctoral dissertations and approximately 16,000 books started to be accessible on the Internet.
As a result, the total number of digitized contents of the NDL’s collection reached about 2,165,000 including 417,000 items provided on the Internet. Enjoy our digitized contents on the website http://dl.ndl.go.jp!
