Cooperative agreement for digitization between the National Diet Library and the Library of Congress
The National Diet Library (NDL) decided to digitize Japanese pre-war materials owned by the Library of Congress (LC) as a joint program with the LC. On July 6, 2010, at the Tokyo Main Library, Dr. Deanna B. Marcum, Associate Librarian for Library Services of the LC, and Dr. Makoto Nagao, Librarian of the NDL, signed the cooperative agreement. Digitizing work is planned to start in FY 2010 and will take several years. Digitized images will be made available inside each library, and copyright cleared resources are considered to be provided to the public via the Internet.
* "Japanese Pre-war Documents in the Library of Congress" gives an outline of the preparatory research for this digitization.
