Directory of Japanese institutions which hold Asian-language materials now available on the Asian Resources Room Homepage (Japanese only) http://www.ndl.go.jp/jp/service/kansai/asia/directory/index.html In March 2005, the Asian Resources Room of the Kansai-kan put out the above directory on its homepage. This directory was compiled by the NDL in cooperation with other institutions which hold Asian-language materials. This directory aims to be a basic tool for promoting the use of Asian-language resources and also for sharing the information resources within the insitutitions concerned. The directory lists 73 institutions: 52 academic libraries (including research centers attached to universities and colleges), 14 special libraries, and 6 public libraries in addition to the Asian Resources Room of the NDL. The top page of the directory carries lists of institutions in the order of the Japanese syllabary, location of the holding institutions, target area of research and language as well as a search engine which enables searching the full-text of the directory. With this search engine, you can search the locations of specific items such as a map or a Korean book. In addition, the top page of the directory has a column which carries the news on the latest activities of the institutions listed in the directory -- news on study meetings, lectures, training courses and exhibitions related to Asian studies. Data included in the Directory
*Before you visit one of these institutions listed in the directory, please confirm the requirements for visiting. The Asian Resources Room will make every effort to keep the directory up-to-date and is planning to expand the coverage and improve the content of the directory.
