The 8th Mutual Visit Program between
the National Diet Library and
the National Library of Korea
October 2004

The 8th mutual visit program of the National Library of Korea (NLK) and the National Diet Library (NDL) was held in Seoul from October 11 to 18, 2004. Headed by Ms. Ikuko Tozawa, Director, Branch Libraries Division, Administrative Department, this delegation had the following other members: Mr. Hiroyuki Yusa, Assistant Director, Planning and Cooperation Division, Administrative Department, and Ms. Miho Kawai, Chief, Network Information Section, Digital Library Division, Projects Department, Kansai-kan of the National Diet Library. The main theme of this year's program was "Future of National Libraries," with a sub-theme "Acquisition and Preservation of Digital Information Resources." There were two seminars each held on each the main and sub-theme.

Seminar I :

"Future of National Libraries" included the following two presentations:
1) "Future Plan of the National Library of Korea in the Age of Knowledge Information Society" by Mr. Jeong Gilsoo, Director, Support & Cooperation Division, NLK
2) "Present and Future of the National Diet Library" by Ikuko Tozawa, NDL

Seminar II :

"Acquisition and Preservation of Digital Information Resources" included the following three presentations:
1) "Acquisition and Preservation Management of Online Digital Resources" by Mr. Kyung-Ho Choi, Deputy Chief of Library Automation Office, NLK
2) "Management of the National Diet Library with the Future View -- "NDL Vision 2004" and Introduction of an Evaluation System" by Hiroyuki Yusa, NDL
3) "Future Plan on Development of the Digital Archives at the National Diet Library" by Miho Kawai, NDL

The delegation also visited the National Assembly Library, Seoul National University Library, Kyujanggak Archives in Seoul and Inha University Library in Incheon.
