2013-4-15 Partial change in the offsite photoduplication service from April 30, 2013

The NDL will change part of its offsite photoduplication service from April 30 (Tue), 2013 as below.

We will stop accepting photocopy requests via the National Diet Library Online Public Access Catalog (NDL-OPAC) from April 27 (Sat) 9:00 p.m. through April 30 (Tue) 8:30 a.m. because of the service renewals.

The NDL-OPAC will also be unavailable from April 28 (Sun) 8:30 a.m. through 10:00 p.m. for system maintenance.

Service renewals from April 30 (Tue), 2013
  • Preference of using a copy of materials held in the Kansai-kan

If you submit a request for photocopying a copy of titles held in the Tokyo Main Library or the International Library of Children’s Literature, and if we hold another copy of the same titles held in the Kansai-kan, we will try to use the copy held in the Kansai-kan for photocopying to the extent possible. Because of this, the facility you specified in your request could be changed to another facility later.
Please understand that we will ship the copy products from the facility whose copies of titles were actually used for photocopying.

For example, even if you choose photocopy of copies all held in the Tokyo Main Library, one part or all of the copy products may be shipped from the Kansai-kan. If copy products are consequently shipped from multiple facilities, a postage and packing fee will be charged for each shipment. The date of shipment or of arrival of copy products from each facility may also be different.

The objective of this change is to promote the use of another copy of materials held in the Kansai-kan which is suitable for providing the offsite photoduplication service on the one hand, and on the other, to ensure the long-term preservation of legally deposited materials, allocated intensively in the Tokyo Main Library and given priority for preservation, and hand them down to future generations.

  • Change in the upper limit
Although we have accepted 20 requests each for three facilities of the NDL so far, we will change the upper limit of requests as below, in order to prefer to use materials held in the Kansai-kan for photocopying.
    • (1) Request via the NDL-OPAC: The upper limit of requests is 30 for all the facilities at one time.
    • (2) Request by sending application forms for offsite photoduplication service via postal mail: The upper limit of requests is 20 for all the facilities at one time.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your consideration and cooperation with our policy.
