2012-7-5 Historical Recordings Collection now provided to public libraries on a regular basis
Since January 2012, the National Diet Library has been providing digitized sound resources of the Historical Recordings Collection (Japanese) to some public libraries on a trial basis. As of July 2, the service became a regular one.
At the same time, the NDL started to accept applications from public libraries to participate in the service. Once a public library joins, it can access all the contents of the Historical Recordings Collection for free, regardless of the copyright status. The list of member libraries is available from "About the Providing of the Historical Recordings Collection to public libraries (Japanese)."
