The National Diet Library supports recovering unique local historical materials held by the Noda village library in Iwate prefecture affected by the tsunami. This activity is carried out as a part of the "Cultural Property Rescue Programme" organized by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, which the NDL has been involved in.

Those 130 titles of damaged materials were sent to the NDL in November and the NDL's Preservation Division staff will restore them by the end of March 2012.
