The Research and Legislative Reference Bureau of the National Diet Library organizes a project team to conduct research on long-term and interdisciplinary political issues.

On 25 March, Research Material "Toward Establishing a Sustainable Society" was published. The report mainly focuses on the analysis of social matters such as labor, community, media, culture and education, which are not examined much in the context of sustainability. The role of science technology is also highlighted.
