Commemorating the 400th anniversary of the opening of trade between Japan and The Netherlands in 1609, a new electronic exhibition "Japan-Netherlands Exchange in the Edo Period" will be released on December 16 (English and Japanese).

In this exhibition, the history of Japan-Netherlands interchange in the Edo Period is illustrated in six topic-based chapters with about 240 materials from our collection.

The National Diet Library and the Koninklijke Bibliotheek signed the agreement in 2005 and have developed a cooperative relationship especially in the area of digitalization of materials and storage. This exhibition is one of the major fruits of our cooperation. Sharing the same theme, the National Diet Library and the Koninklijke Bibliotheek have each created an exhibition and offered it via the Internet.
