The National Diet Library offers digital images of books published in the Taisho era (1912-1926) for the first time in “Digital Library from the Meiji Era” on the Internet on July 3rd, 2007. In total, 143,000 volumes are available in “Digital Library from the Meiji Era”, an image database of copyright cleared books published since 1868.
Newly added 7,200 titles (15,700 volumes) are equal to 17% of our book holdings published in the Taisho era. The list of added titles is available from the top page of “Digital Library from the Meiji Era”.
This time we adopted gray-scale image in which monochrome pictures are displayed more clearly. 327 volumes of photographic collections in the Meiji era are available with clearer images.
