As of March 31, 2007, Mr. Takao Kurosawa, the Librarian of the National Diet Library, retired and as of April 1, 2007, Dr. Makoto Nagao was newly appointed the Librarian of the National Diet Library.
Dr. Nagao is Doctor of Engineering, Emeritus Professor of Kyoto University. President of Kyoto University (1997-2003), President of the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (2004-March 2007). President of the Japan Library Association from 2000. Received Medal with Purple Ribbon in 1997. Born in 1936.
