As of February 28, 2006, Akio Yasue, Deputy Librarian of the National Diet Library, retired and Yoshitaka Ikuhara, Director General of the Administrative Department, was appointed Deputy Librarian to succeed him.
Mr. Ikuhara joined the National Diet Library in 1972, and served as Director General of the Serials Department, Director General of the Public Services Department, and Director General of the Kansai-kan. He has served as Director General of the Administrative Department since January 2005.
