As of December 15, 2004, Noritada Otaki, Deputy Librarian of the National Diet Library, retired and Akio Yasue, Director General of the Administrative Department, was appointed Deputy Librarian to succeed him.
Mr. Yasue joined the National Diet Library in 1969, and served as Director General of the Serials Department, Director of Kansai-kan Project Office, and Director General of the Kansai-kan. He has served as Director General of the Administrative Department since April 2003.
